Ross Energy attended “How do we fulfil Denmark’s CCS potential?”, hosted by Geelmuyden Kiese Danmark, where topics such as flexible commissioning timelines and better coordination between capture and storage were discussed.
A great panel discussion featuring Ulrik Olbjørn, Charlotte Søndergren, Kim Søgård Kristensen & Christian Peter Ibsen, who shared valuable perspectives on the opportunities and challenges ahead for CCS in Denmark.
Later in the evening, we joined the always excellent Jazz i Haven, hosted by Danish District Heating Association, DANVA, Circular Denmark and Tænketanken Brundtland. Here, Sigrid Friis made an important point: “Energy policy is never just energy policy.” We agree.
It was encouraging to see how prominent CCS was in this year’s energy debate. While CCS is not explicitly highlighted in the current government platform, there is growing recognition that achieving Denmark’s climate ambitions will be difficult without its meaningful role.
While discussions often focus on policy, infrastructure and investment, success also depends on the less visible work: thorough planning, collaboration, testing and evaluation. Whether drilling an exploration well or assessing a potential storage reservoir, taking the time to understand the subsurface and reduce uncertainty is essential.
Denmark has a strong CCS opportunity ahead. Realising it will require both ambition and careful execution. Always nice attending Folkemødet.
